Unified Vietnam, Paintings from Picasso, December,ber 30th, 1987, Michel Nr. 1853-1859, Block 56; Six stamps with nominals of 3D, 20D (two stamps), 30D (two stamps) and 40D were issued in perforation 12.5:12.25 and imperforate. There was also a souvenir-sheet issued in perforation 12.5. The souvenir-sheet was not issued imperforate. The above issued date that is references by Michel may not be correct as there are First Day Covers (ex Klewitz) that show a first date of issuance of October 1st, 1987.

Stamps sold at Vietnamese post offices were sold without gum while stamps sold by the official Vietnamese stamp agency were gummed.

Here is a 3D stamp that shows a printing error. The grey-brown color that was used to print the name and woman portrait on the right side of the stamp shows a clear double printing.

Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare.

The letter carries three of the Picasso stamps plus stamps from the Elephant (imperforate and perforated) and Postal Union sets for an overall postage of 1,249D (including the red free frank for 1,150D). Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front. Since the letter was by error routed via Monteal, Canada there is also a red Montreal arrival cancel.
