Gold Fish

Unified Vietnam, Gold Fish, October 20th, 1977, Michel Nr. 931-938; Eight stamps with the nominals of 12 xu (two stamps), 20 xu, 30 xu, 40 xu, 50 xu, 60 xu and 1 Dong were issued perforated 12.0 and im-perforated.

Rare single franking of the 20xu stamp on a local air mail letter sent from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi in December of 1976. Hanoi machine arrival cancel on the reverse.

Mixed franking of only Gold Fish stamps a registered letter sent from Ho Chi Minh City to well known philatelist Theo Klewitz in West Germany in August of 1978. Together with the red free frank for 3.88D the overall postage amounted 5.50D. The registration number was added by handwriting in red ink and an unusual long and stamp “15250 TP HOCHIMINH”. Fulda green custom cachet on front.

Mixed franking of the 20 xu Gold Fish stamp together with two 40 xu Dragon Fly stamps paying an overall postage of 1 Dong on an international air mail letter sent from Hai Phong to Switzerland in 1978.

Regional letter sent from Ho Chi Minh City to Vientane in Laos in February of 1979 paying 52 xu air mail postage. The standard letter rate to laos at the time was 41 xu so the weight of this letter probably exceeded the standard 20 gram weight level.

Mixed franking of the 40xu Gold Fish and 1 Dong October Revolution stamp paying an overall postage of 1.40D on an air-mail letter sent from Hanoi to Luxembourg in February of 1978.

Mixed franking of the 10xu Day of the Child stamp together with a number of other NVN stamps (including some of the Gold Fish stamps) paying an overall postage of 3.38D on a registered express mail letter sent from Ho Chi Minh City to Marseille, France in July of 1978.

Air mail letter sent in July of 1978 to Hong Kong using a mixed franking of the Gold Fish, October Revolution, Protected Birds, Orchid etc. sets for an overall postage of 4.85D.

Rare registered express mail letter sent from Hanoi to Klewitz in December of 1977. It carries most of the perforated set plus some stamps from the protected bird set for an overall postage of 4.86 Dong. Fulda arrival cancel and Fulda customs cachet on the reverse.

Another rare registered express mail letter sent from Hanoi to Klewitz in December of 1977. It carries the other stamps of the perforated set plus some stamps from the protected bird set for an overall postage of 3.24 Dong. Fulda arrival cancel and Fulda customs cachet on the reverse.

Very rare registered express mail letter mailed in February of 1978 to Klewitz. It carries half of the im-perforated gold fish and im-perforated versions of the protected bird and goat beetle set. Im-perforated stamps on postally used letter are very rare. The overall postage amounted to 4.26 Dong. Fulda arrival cancel on the reverse.

Another very rare registered express mail letter mailed in February of 1978 to Klewitz. It carries the other half of the im-perforated gold fish and im-perforated versions of the protected bird. Im-perforated stamps on postally used letter are very rare. The overall postage amounted to 3.48 Dong. Fulda arrival cancel on the reverse.

Mixed franking of three of the October Revolution stamps together with other NVN stamps (including the 12xu Gold Fish stamp) from the period paying an overall postage of 2.08D on an air-mail letter sent to Paris, France in January of 1978.

Rare registered letter sent from Quan 5 (Cholon) to Klewitz in October of 1981. It carries a number of the flower stamps including two fo the 10 xu stamps that show an up-side down double print of the yellow color. Errors stamps on postally used cover are very rare. There are also two of the 30 xu gold fish stamps. There are also two of the black inscription variety of the 12 xu stamp. The overall postage amounted to 7.90 Dong. Fulda green custom cachet on front.

Rare registered express mail letter sent to Klewitz in August of 1978. It carries the 40 xu gold fish stamps plus a range of other contemporary NVN stamps for an overall postage of 4.40 Dong. Interesting Basel-Frankfurt rail transit cancel and Fulda arrival cancel on the reverse. Green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Another very rare air mail letter mailed from Ho Chi Minh City to Hong Kong in July of 1978. The letter carries the Children error stamp without the yellow/mustard printing run. Errors stamps on postally used cover are very rare. There is also a 30 xu Gold Fish stamp. The overall postage amounted to 1.60 Dong.

Registered letter sent to Klewitz in August of 1981. It carries four blocks of four of the 12 xu value plus three of the 30 xu Gold Fish stamps. The left and right most block are of the first printing while the middle blocks of four are the second printing. The overall postage of the letter amounted to 8.21 Dong. Very rare registered express mail letter sent to Klewitz in April of 1980. The letter carries the other half of the im-perforated Birds set plus a number of the Gold Fish stamps for a total postage of 4.82 Dong. Fulda arrival cancel on the reverse. Unusual hand made express mail label.

Registered letter sent from Quan 5 (Cholon) in September 1981 to Klewitz. The letter carries most of the perforated Fish set plus the 30x u Gold Fish stamp for a total postage of 11.30 Dong (including the red free frank of 7 Dong). Green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Registered letter featuring a large number of stamps from the Flower sets of 1980 sent in August of 1981 to Klewitz. Three 30 xu Gold Fish stamps on the reverse. The overall postage amounted to 8.20 Dong (including the free frank of 5.6 Dong on the reverse). Unusual red cancellation. Green Fulda custom cachet on front.
