Unified Vietnam, Birds, January 25th, 1978, Michel Nr. 948-955; Eight stamps with nominals of 12 xu, 20 xu (two stamps), 30 xu, 40 xu, 50 xu, 60 xu and 1 Dong were issued perforated 12.0 and imperforate.

Mixed franking of the 20 xu Bird stamp together with the 1 D Total Liberation and the 30 xu United Vietnam paying an overall postage of 1.50D on an international air mail letter sent from Hai Phong to Switzerland in June of 1978.

Mixed franking of the 2D Total Liberation stamp (3) together with stamps from the Nguyen Trai and Bird sets paying an overall postage of 8.20D on an international registered air mail letter sent from Thi Nghe to the United States in June of 1982. Rare registered express mail letter mailed to Klewitz in July of 1978. It carries half of the perforated bird set plus other NVN stamps from the period. The overall postage amounted to 3.50 Dong. Bad Nauheim transit and Fulda arrival cancel on the reverse. Green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Registered air mail letter sent from Gia Loo (small post office) to Switzerland featuring the 1D Bird stamp plus a pair of the 60 xu Bird stamps paying an overall postage of 2.20D.

Mixed franking of the Bird stamps together with a zero free frank paying a 3 Dong postage on a registered letter to Finland in May of 1980. The zero free frank was required to produce the R-label that came out of the same machine. Helsinki arrival cancel.

Rare registered letter sent from Quan 5 (Cholon) to Klewitz in October of 1981. It carries a number of the flower stamps including two fo the 10 xu stamps that show an up-side down double print of the yellow color. Errors stamps on postally used cover are very rare. There are also two of the black inscription variety of the 12 xu stamp ans the 1 Dong Bird stamp. The overall postage amounted to 7.90 Dong. Fulda green custom cachet on front.

Rare registered express mail letter sent to Klewitz in August of 1978. The letter carries half of the perforated set plus a number of the Bird stamps for an overall postage of 4.21 Dong. Fulda arrival cancel on the reverse. Green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Very rare registered express mail letter sent to Klewitz in September of 1978. The letter carries half of the im-perforated Sculpture set plus some of the Total Liberation stamps for an overall postage of 4.51 Dong. Im-perforated stamps on postally used cover are very rare. Very rare registered express mail letter sent to Klewitz in May of 1980. It carries the Stamp Exhibition set plus the 12 xu Einstein stamp without the black printing run. Error stamps on postally used cover are very rare. There are also two of the Bird set stamps. The overall postage amounted to 4.94 Dong. Very rare registered express mail letter sent to Klewitz in October of 1980. It carries the souvenir sheet for HCM’s 70th Birthday and a 20 xu Year of the Child that shows a small perforation error (missing perforation holes). Souvenir sheets on postally used cover are very rare. There is also a 20 xu Bird stamp. The overall postage amounted to 4.82 Dong. Fulda arrival cancel on the reverse.

Registered letter sent in May of 1981 from Quan 5 (Cholon) to West Germany. It carries two pairs of the Socialist Republic 6 xu stamp that shows a variation in the size of the star. The left pair features a small star while the right pair features a large star. Also not the color variations on the brown/ochre color. There are two of the Bird stamps. The overall postage amounted to 8.21 Dong.

Registered letter sent from Quan 5 (Cholon) to Klewitz in December of 1981. The letter features the two different color variations of the 12 xu Coat of Arms stamp with the sheet numbers. Stamps with sheet numbers attached on postally cover are rare. The letter also carries a military free frank for veterans on the back. Since this free frank actually had a nominal valuer it could be used for both, domestic and international postage though 12 xu only covered the standard domestic letter rate.  A number of Bird set stamp and other NVN stamps on the reverse. The overall postage amounted to 7.90 Dong (including the red free frank of 2.72 Dong).
