The letter carries half of the perforated Prehistoric Animal set plus two pairs of the provisional overprint stamps with shifted overprint as well as stamps from the International Peace Meeting, Karl Marx, Union Congress and Ocean Fish sets. The overall postage of the letter amounted to 26 Dong (the red free frank is illegible).

The letter carries a large number of Friendship stamps, some of which carry the plate errors featured above. The letter also carries stamps from the Ha Long, Harmful Insects, Provisional Overprints, Prehistoric Animal and Friendship Contract set for an overall postage of 312 Old Dong (worth only 31.2D due to the currency devaluation on September 14th, 1985) plus the red free frank for 0.25 New Dong. There are also stamps from the Prehistoric Animals (imperforate), Ha Long, Friendship Treaty, Union Congress and Communist Party sets for an overall postage of 124D (the red free frank is illegible). The letter carries the perforated Motorcycles souvenir-sheet plus stamps from the October Revolution, Prehistoric Animals, Animals and Plants, Ha Long plus some other stamps. The Ha Long set is imperforate. Souvenir-Sheets and imperforate stamps on postally used cove are very rare. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The Animals and Plant, Prehistoric Animals, Motorcycles and Ha Long stamps were still denominated in old Dong. The overall postage hence amounted to 52.50 oD = 5.25 nD. plus the red free frank for 111 nD plus stamps in new Dong 155 nD for a total of 271.25 nD. Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front. There is a Montreal transit cancel on the reverse. The letter must have been routed through Canada by mistake.

The Friendship, Border Troops and Prehistoric Animal stamps were still denominated in old Dong. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 40.5 oD =4.05 nD. plus the red free frank for 17 nD and stamps already in new Dong for 24.3 for a total of 45.35 nD. The letter features stamps from the Halley, Musical Instrument, Reconstruction and Le Lo’i sets that were already denominated in new Dong. The Dinosaur and Bird stamps are denominated in old Dong. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 4.6 oD =0.46 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (41D)  for 41.46 nD. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. The 3D Prehistoric Animal stamp was devalued by 10:1 on September 14th, 1985 and so was only worth o.3D.
