Unified Vietnam, Roses, January 20th, 1988, Michel Nr. 1888-1894; Seven stamps in nominals of 5D, 10D, 15D, 20D, 25D 30D and 40D were issued in perforation 12.5 and imperforate. There was also a souvenir sheet with a 50D nominal that was only issued perforated 13.

Stamps sold at Vietnamese post offices were sold without gum while stamps sold by the official Vietnamese stamp agency were sold with gum.

The letter carries most of the perforated Roses set plus stamps from the Vietnam-CSSR Cooperation (imperforate) and Cham Culture sets for an overall postage of 1,297D (including the red free frank for 951D). The Motor Cycle stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  Souvenir-Sheets and imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The letter carries the imperforate and mis-perforated Hai Phong Liberation stamps plus two fo the 5D stamps that show an upside -down printing the blue color and a significant passer-shift of the same color. Imperforate and error stamps on postally used cover are very rare. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. This was true for the stamps from the Hai Phong Liberation and Red Cross sets. The overall postage hence amounted to 22 oD = 2.2 nD. plus the red free frank for 466 nD plus stamps in new currency of 412 nD for a total of 880.2 nD.
