Unified Vietnam, 100 Years Motorcycles, June 28th, 1985, Michel Nr. 1572-1579, Block 37; Seven stamps with nominals of 1D (two stamps), 2D (two stamps), 3D, 4D, 6D and one souvenir-sheet with a 10D nominal were issued in perforation 13 and imperforate.

Registered air mail letter sent in December of 1987 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the perforated Motorcycles souvenir-sheet plus stamps from the October Revolution, Prehistoric Animals, Animals and Plants, Ha Long plus some other stamps. The Ha Long set is imperforate. Souvenir-Sheets and imperforate stamps on postally used cove are very rare. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The Animals and Plant, Prehistoric Animals, Motorcycles and Ha Long stamps were still denominated in old Dong. The overall postage hence amounted to 52.50 oD = 5.25 nD. plus the red free frank for 111 nD plus stamps in new Dong 155 nD for a total of 271.25 nD. Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front. There is a Montreal transit cancel on the reverse. The letter must have been routed through Canada by mistake.

Air mail letter sent in June of 1986 from Quan 5 (Cholon) to Klewitz. The letter carries the imperforate Motorcycles set. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. There are also stamps from the Communist Party, Prehistoric Animals and August Revolution sets. Two of the Communist Party stamps are significantly mis-perforated. All of the stamps were still denominated in old Dong. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. There is also the military free frank issued in 1981 that was not allowed for international postage but apparently was accepted by the postal clerk nevertheless. Imperforate stamps and souvenir-Sheets on postally used cover are very rare. The ARGENTINIA stamps were still denominated in old Dong while the other stamps were already denominated in new Dong. The letter carries the souvenir-sheet from the overprinted World Cup and Soccer sets plus stamps from the Motorcycles (souvenir-sheets) and stamps from the Cambodian National Day (perforated and imperforate) sets (including the red free frank for 5,350D). The overprinted Soccer stamps that were originally issued in 1982 had a very low nominal value which made them basically useless for postal usage. Therefore these stamps and souvenir-sheets on postally used cover are very rare. The Motorcycle stamps from 1984 were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing.
