North Vietnam, 15. Anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi, October 15th, 1969, Michel Nr. 586-587; Two stamps both with a 12 xu nominal were issued in perforation 11.0.

Here is the mint set:

These stamps were not officially released imperforate but a handful of im-perforated trial proofs have come to market. Note the different and darker color of the red background on the proof as compared to the issued stamp and the guidance marks surrounding the stamp..

Here are two single imperforate trial proofs without the guidance marks. Also the color of the left stamp is identical to the finally issued stamp.

Single franking of one of the 12 xu values on a standard letter to East Germany. As of March 1st, 1960 the domestic letter rate and the tariff to fellow socialist countries became identical at 12 xu.

Rare express mail letter featuring the entire set mailed to Klewitz in January 1970. The postage amounted to 1.82 Dong which was slightly above the required tariff for a standard 20 gram registered express mail letter to West Germany (Tariff 1.60 Dong), so the letter may have been a bit heavier than the standard.

Registration Nr. 101690
