Indochina, Indochinese Women overprinted for use in Canton, 1908, Michel Nr. IND 41-58; Canton was a French treaty port within China that was established after the Treaty of Whampoa was signed in 1844. This allowed the French to use five ports to French merchants, establish consulates there, provided certain special rights to French citizens and a fixed duty on French-Chinese trade. Seventeen stamps of the Indochinese Women set in nominals of 1C, 2C, 4C, 5C, 10C, 15C, 20C, 25C, 30C, 35C, 40C, 50C, 75C, 1F, 2F, 5F and 10F were overprinted.
