Unified Vietnam, The Legend of Thanh Giong, July 1st, 1989, Michel Nr. 2058-2062; Five stamps with nominals of 50D, 100D (two stamps), 200D and 300D were issued in perforation 12.5:12 and imperforate. There is a question as to the actual issuance date of this set. Klewitz reports that it was released on May 1st, 1989. Michel states that First Day Covers with the May 1st date are known, so the July date may not be correct.

Registered air mail cover sent as a mixed currency franking in November of 1995 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the Betel Nut sheetlet plus stamps from the Thanh Giong, Alpine Rose, Orchids and Day of the Stamp sets. The Orchid stamps from 1977 were still in old Dong. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 0.18 oD = 0.02 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (15,150 nD) and the red free frank for 3,300D for 18,450.02nD.
