Official First Day Cover

Registered air mail cover sent as a mixed currency franking in November of 1995 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the Betel Nut sheetlet plus stamps from the Thanh Giong, Alpine Rose, Orchids and Day of the Stamp sets. The Orchid stamps from 1977 were still in old Dong. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to  0.18 oD = 0.02 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (15,150 nD)  and the red free frank for 3,300D for 18,450.02nD.
