Unified Vietnam, Soccer World Cup Italy I, August 27th, 1989, Michel Nr. 2080-2087, Block 72; Seven stamps with nominals of 50D (three stamps), 100D (two stamps), 200D and 300D were issued in perforation 12.75 and imperforate. There was also a souvenir-sheet with a 400D nominal and perforation 13. There are questions about the actual issuance date of these stamps. Klewitz reports that they were released on April 22nd, 1989 and, according to Michel, there are First Day Covers with dates of June 4th 1989. Also, there are postally used letters dated from June 17th, 1989 (see below) which documents that the Michel August date is likely incorrect.
Stamps sold at Vietnamese post offices were sold without gum while stamps sold by the official Vietnamese stamp agency were sold with gum.
