Unified Vietnam, Monkeys, Septemer 23rd, 1987, Michel Nr. 1827-1830; Four stamps in nominals of 5D (two stamps), 15D and 40D were issued in perforation 12.5 and imperforate.

Registered air mail letter sent in September of 1987 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the entire perforated Monkey set plus stamps from the Red Cross, Elephants, Indochina War, National Assembly and Year of the Cat sets for overall postage of 574D (including the red free frank for 439D). Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Registered air mail letter sent in November of 1987 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries stamps from the Monkeys, Old Ships, Chinese New Year (color and size variations) Butterflies, Postal Union, Communist Party (Perf.12.5) and Year of the Cat sets. The Chinese New Year stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 6 oD =0.60 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (83 nD) plus the red free frank for 486 nD for 569.6 nD. Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front.

The letter carries the other half of the perforated Insect set and souvenir-sheet plus stamps from the Manned Space Flight and Ape sets for an overall postage of 552D (including the red free frank for 513D). Registered air mail letter sent in September of 1987 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the entire perforated World Cup stamps plus stamps from the Prehistoric Animals, Day of the Invalid and Ape sets for an overall postage of 586D (including the red free frank for 495D).

The letter carries half of the perforated Fish set plus stamps from the Butterflies (imperforate), Monkeys and Roses sets for an overall postage of 1,368D (including the red free frank for 1,185D). The letter carries the other half of the imperforate Airplanes set plus stamps from the Traditional Minority Clothing (Imperforate), Monkeys (imperforate), Cham Culture and Paracel and Spratley Island sets for an overall postage of 1,690D (including the red free frank for 1,120D). Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. Fulda custom cachet on front.

Registered air mail letter sent in January of 1988 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries half of the perforated Mushroom set plus stamps from the Water and Mountain Spirit, Monkeys, Peace Movement and Insect (imperforate) sets. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. There is also the military free frank issued in 1987.
