Registered air mail letter sent in May of 1996 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the entire perforated Kingfisher set plus stamps from the Orchid set (imperforate for an overall postage of 31,400D. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. Registered air mail letter sent in May of 1996 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the entire imperforate Kingfisher set plus stamps from the Bird set from 1981. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. The Bird stamps were still denominated in old Dong. On September 14th, 1985 the Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation which devalued the old Dong by 10:1. This meant old stamps used after that date were only worth one tenth of their face value.  The overall postage of the letter therefore amounted to 2.90 oD :10 = 0.29 nD plus stamps already in new Dong (19,400 nD) plus the red free frank for 2,000 nD for a total of 21,402.9D.

Rare registered express air mail letter sent in July of 1998 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the imperforate Birds of Prey stamp set plus stamps from the Domestic Pheasants, Hibiscus (imperforate), King Fishers (imperforate) and Asian Attractions I sets for an overall postage of 50,200D.
