Unified Vietnam, International Stamp Exhibition Stockholmia 86; Birds, August 28th, 1986, Michel Nr.  1703-1710, Block 47; Seven stamps with nominals of 1D (two stamps), 2D, 3D (two stamps) and 5D were issued in perforation 13 and imperforate. The souvenir-sheet was only issued perforated 12.5.

Stamps sold at Vietnamese post offices were produced without gum while stamps sold by the official Vietnamese stamp agency were gummed.

Registered air mail letter sent in April of 1987 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries stamps that were still denominated in old Dong (Union Congress, Asean Games) and new Dong (Birds, Thälmann, Reconstruction, Dam Building).  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The letter carries stamps that were still denominated in old Dong (Peace Meeting, Bulgaria, Asian Games) and new Dong (Birds,  Reconstruction, Poultry).  Souvenir-Sheets on postally used cover are very rare. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. Apart from the Post Congress Hamburg souvenir-sheet all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. Registered air mail letter sent in January of 1988 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries half of the perforated Cacti stamp set plus stamps from the Bird (imperforate), Water and Mountain Spirit, Humane Living plus the military free frank issued in 1987. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. Since the military free frank had a 5D nominal it was valid for international postage. Registered air mail letter sent in February  of 1988 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the perforated and imperforate Soviet-Vietnamese Friendship Treaty stamps plus stamps from the October Revolution, Insects (imperforate) and STOCKHOLMIA Birds  sets for an overall postage of 1,221D (including the red free frank for 1,064D). Registered air mail letter sent in April of 1988 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the other half of the perforated Mushroom set plus stamps from the STOCKHOLMIA Birds (stamp from souvenir-sheet), Traditional Indigenous Clothing (Imperforate), Mannes Space Flight and Insect (imperforate) sets. Imperforate stamps and stamps from souvenir-sheets on postally used cover are very rare. The overall postage of the letter (including the red free frank for 1,363D) amounted to 1,553D.
