Unified Vietnam, Insects, June 30th, 1987, Michel Nr. 1794-1801, Block 53; Seven stamps with nominals of 1D (Two stamps),  2D, 3D (two stamps) and 5D (two stamps) were issued in perforation 12.75 and imperforate. The souvenir-sheet was only issued with perforation 12.5.

Stamps sold at Vietnamese post offices were sold without gum while stamps sold by the official Vietnamese postal agency were sold with gum.

Mixed franking of the Insect and Soccer World Cup II sets paying an overall postage of 15,150D on a registered international air mail letter sent from HCM City to Hong Kong in July of 1990.

Registered air mail letter sent in May of 1987 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries perforated stamps from the Insect, Bronze Vessels, Reconstruction, Union Congress and Friendship with USSSR sets. Apart from the USSR stamps all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to  1.70 oD =0.17nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (118nD) plus the red free frank for 255 nD for 373.17 nD. Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Registered air mail letter sent in May of 1987 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries perforated stamps and souvenir-sheet from the Insect set plus Reconstruction, Union Congress, Asian Games and  Dimitroff sets. Souvenir-Sheets on postally used cover are very rare. Apart from the Asian Games and Dimitroff  stamps all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to  5.60 oD =0.56nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (104 nD) plus the red free frank for 269 nD for 373.56 nD. Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Air mail letter sent in November of 1987 from Cholon to Klewitz. The letter carries half of the imperforate Insect set plus imperforate Poultry and a perforated Butterfly stamp for an overall postage of 24D.

Registered air mail letter sent in September of 1987 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the entire Elephant set plus stamps Insects, National Assembly and Hai Phong Liberation sets.   The Hai Phong Liberation stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 15 oD =1.5 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (81 nD) plus the red free frank for 470 nD for 552.50 nD.

The letter carries the other half of the perforated Cacti stamp and the souvenir-sheet plus stamps from the Insect (imperforate), Water and Mountain Spirit, Humane Living Peace Movement sets. Imperforate stamps and souvenir-sheets on postally used cover are very rare. The overall postage of the letter amounted to 1,225D (including the red free frank for 1,100D. The letter carries a pair of the October Revolution souvenir-sheets plus stamps from the October Revolution, Cacti, Insects (souvenir-sheet) and  Animals and Plant sets.  The top October Revolution souvenir-sheet shows the plate error of “dot under O of MUOI”.  The bottom October Revolution souvenir-sheet shows the dark green printing run. Error stamps and souvenir-sheets on postally used cover are very rare. The Animal and Plant  stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 7 oD =0.7 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong ( 395 nD) plus the red free frank for 2,014 nD for 2,409.7 nD. Green Fulda custom cachet on front.

The letter carries the Economic Assistance stamps plus stamps from the Red Cross, Insects (stamp from souvenir-sheet), Party Decisions and Youth Festival sets.  Imperforate stamps or stamps from souvenir-sheets on postally used cover are very rare.  The Youth Festival stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing.
