Unified Vietnam, Dogs, August 27th, 1989, Michel Nr. 2073-2079; Seven stamps with nominals of 50D (three stamps), 100D (two stamps), 200D and 300D were issued in perforation 12.5:12.25 and imperforate. There are questions about the actual issuance date of these stamps. Klewitz reports that they were released on April 20th, 1989 and, according to Michel, there are First Day Covers with dates of June 17 and June 20th 1989.
Stamps sold at Vietnamese post offices were sold without gum while stamps dolby the official Vietnamese stamp agency were sold with gum.

Registered air mail letter sent in July of 1989 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries perforated Dog stamps plus stamps from the Monkeys, , Ceramics, Dong Da, Fishing Boats and Day of the Environment sets. The Day the Environment stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 0.9 oD = 0.09 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (1,665nD) plus the red free frank for 7,750 nD for 9,415.09 nD.
