Unified Vietnam, 95th Birthday of Ngo Gia Tu’, December 30th, 2003, Michel Nr. 3314; A single stamp with a 800D nominal was issued in perforation 13.25. Ngo Gia Tu’ was a politician and revolutionary that founded the Anamite Communist Party in the 1930’s. As result he was persecuted by the French Colonialist and imprisoned on the infamous prison island “Paulo Condor”. In 1935 he tried to flee the camp and was shot and killed.
Here is the mint stamp in a block of eight
This stamp was printed using the soft- and hardware of the German company “Heidelberger Druckmaschinen GmbH” which can be seen by the printed color scheme visible on the right selvage of the sheet margin.
Here is the same block of four but this time overprinted “Specimen”. These overprinted stamps were handed out to fellow postal organizations around the globe as well as to publications that were to announce the publication the stamp.

Con Dao is the modern name of Paulo Condor.
Paulo Condor went through a number of name changes. Prior to Con Dao it was called Con-Son as can be seen by this old post mark from December of 1976.
