Unified Vietnam, 40. Anniversary of the End of World War II, June 5th, 1985, Michel Nr. 1562-1565; Four stamps in nominals of 1D, 2D, 4D and 5D were issued in perforation 12.25 and imperforate. Michel reports that the stamps were only issued perforated but the Vietnamese Postage Stamp Catalogue states otherwise so the editor will go with the Vietnamese information. The souvenir sheet was only released perforated (13:13.25)

Registered air mail letter sent in August of 1985 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter features the perforated Youth Festival set plus stamps from the Dahlia, Friendship, Lenin and Liberation of Hai Phong sets. There is also a pair of the rare 12xu Lotus stamp with post master perforation. The Dahlia stamps are imperforate. Post master perforations and imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. The overall postage of the letter amounted to 218.24D (including the red free frank for 163D). Air mail letter sent in December of 1985from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the perforated Youth Festival set plus the two color versions of the imperforate 1D stamp. There are also stamps from the Prehistoric Animals (imperforate), Ha Long, Friendship Treaty, Union Congress and Communist Party sets for an overall postage of 124D (the red free frank is illegible). The letter carries the perforated Youth Festival set plus stamps from the End of WW2, Bulgaria, August Revolution and Women Congress sets. There is also a 12 xu Lotus stamp with Post Master Perforation. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The Communist Party stamps all show different color variations plus a mis-perforated stamp. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. The letter carries the perforated Paracel and Spartly Island stamps plus stamps from the Peace Movement, 5 Billion Humans, Union Conference, Dam Building and WW II (imperforate)sets. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. The World War II , Union Conference, Peace Meeting and Ha Long Bay stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing.
