Unified Vietnam, 30 Years Red Cross, July 27th, 1976, Michel Nr. 865; After the political  re-unification of Vietnam was accomplished by the new National Assembly and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam had been founded the first stamp that was issued commemorated the International Red Cross. The stamp was issued in perforation 11.0.

Mint block of four on which the op right stamp shows the plate error of an “additional red apostrophe on CHU” and the bottom right stamp the printing flaw of “red cross eroded on the right”.

Detailed scans of the affected areas

Single franking of the 12 xu stamp on a domestic letter sent from Transit-Vinh to Saigon in November of most likely 1976. Note that the M.N. Vietnam cancel does not have a year inserted.

Very rare registered express mail letter sent to Klewitz in March of 1977. The letter carries the Red Cross stamp plus other NVN stamps for an overall postage of 1.66 Dong. The letter also carries some im-perforated stamps of the reptile set. Im-perforated stamps on postally used cover are very rare. Given that the postage for a standard letter to Western Europe had been raised to 1 Dong in December of 1976 and that the international registration fee went up at the same time to 1.2 Dong. The letter appears to be under-franked. However, no postage due charges were applied.

Rare express mail letter sent to Klewitz in January of 1977. It carries a block of four of the Red Cross stamp and other NVN stamps for an overall postage of 2.08 Dong. This is slightly above the required postage of 2 Dong (1 Dong standard letter fee plus  Dong Express Mail fee). Berlin transit and Fulda arrival cancel on the reverse.

Rare registered express mail letter mailed to Klewitz in July of 1978. It carries half of the perforated bird set plus other NVN stamps (including two of the Red Cross stamp) from the period. The overall postage amounted to 3.50 Dong. Bad Nauheim transit and Fulda arrival cancel on the reverse. Green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Another rare registered express mail letter mailed to Klewitz in July of 1978. It carries the other half of the perforated bird set plus other NVN stamps from the period (including the Red Cross stamp). The overall postage amounted to 3.46 Dong.
