Unified Vietnam, 11. World Union Congress, September 16th, 1986, Michel Nr. 1719; A single stamp with a 1D nominal was issued in perforation 12.5.

There appear to be two distinct printings. One shows a light-blue/brick-red color and is printed on white paper while the other shows a light-blue/blood-red color and is printed on grey paper.

Registered air mail letter sent in June of 1987 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries two blocks of four of both color variations of the Union Congress stamp plus stamps from the National Assembly, Dam Construction and Rare Plant sets for an overall postage of 373 (including the red free frank for 279D). Registered air mail letter sent in December of 1986 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries stamps that were still denominated in old Dong (Bulgaria) and new Dong ( Reconstruction, Thälmann, Communist Party). The 5D Communist Party stamps are in the rare perforation 12.5. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to  2 oD =0.20 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (86 nD) plus the red free frank for 324 nD for 410.20 nD. Green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Registered air mail letter sent in June of 1987 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries two pairs of both color variations of the Union Congress stamp plus stamps from the Reconstruction, Thälmann, Communist Party, Poultry and Bronze Vessel sets for an overall postage of 227 (including the red free frank for 136D). Registered air mail letter sent in May of 1987 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries stamps from the  Elephant set plus stamps from theCommunist Party, Vietnamese Post and Union Congress sets.  The 30xu Communist Party stamp shows a significant passer-shift of the dark brown color downwards. Error stamps on postally used cover are very rare. The Communist Party stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 1.1 oD =0.11 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (111 nD) plus the red free frank for 262 nD for 373.11 nD.

Registered air mail letter sent in July of 1987 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the entire perforated and imperforate Water and Mountain Spirit set plus stamps from the Ha Long Bay (Imperforate), Bonsai, National Assembly,Union Congress, Communist Party (souvenir-sheet) and August Revolution (souvenir-sheet) sets.  Souvenir-Sheets and imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. The Ha Long Bay and August Revolution stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 19.50 oD =1.95 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (122 nD) plus the red free frank for 530 nD for 653.95nD.

Registered air mail letter sent in April of 1987 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the imperforate Year of the Cat stamp plus stamps from the Chinese New Year, Union Congress, Poultry, Traditional Instruments (imperforate), Peace Meeting and Reconstruction sets. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. The Chinese New Year and Peace Meeting stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 18 oD =1.80 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (52 nD) plus the red free frank for 276 nD for 329.8 nD. Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front.

The letter carries three of the Year of the Cat stamp plus stamps from the Chinese New Year (color variations), October Revolution, Traditional Houses, Union Congress, KPdSU and Reconstruction sets. The October Revolution stamps are all perforated 12.5.  The Chinese New Year stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 26 oD =2.60 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (55.5 nD) plus the red free frank for 318 nD for 376.1 nD. Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front.
