Unified Vietnam, 10. Anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam, April 30th, 1985, Michel Nr. 1554-1558, Block 33; Four stamps with nominals of 1D, 2D, 4D, 5D and one souvenir-sheet with a 10D nominal were issued in perforation 12.5 and imperforate.
Here is the mint set. The stamps sold at the postal counter in Vietnam were issued without gum while the stamp that were sent out by the agency to dealers and collectors were issued with gum.

The letter carries the entire Liberation of South Vietnam stamp set plus stamps from the Friendship and Communist Party set for an overall postage of 80.9D (including the red free frank for 26D). One of the 10D Friendship stamps shows the plate error of “crane on dock”. Error stamps on postally used cover are very rare. Green Fold custom cachet on front.
Registered air mail letter sent in May of 1985 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the entire Liberation of South Vietnam stamps and the souvenir-sheet. There are also stamps from the Friendship, Orchids and Harmful Insects sets for an overall postage of 70.5D (including the red free frank for 14D). Air mail letter sent in February of 1986 from Tan Binh to Klewitz. The letter carries the entire imperforate and some perforated stamps of the Liberation of South Vietnam set for an overall postage of 32D. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare.
Registered air mail letter sent on September 28th, 1985 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the imperforate souvenir-sheets of the HCM Birthday and Union Conference sets plus stamps from the Youth Festival, World Food Year, Reforestation and Bird sets. The Birds stamps are imperforate and the top left Union Conference stamp shows the plate error of “crack through building”. Souvenir-sheets and imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date (i.e. all stamps on this envelope) were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 41.37 oD = 4.14 nD. plus the red free frank for 35 nD or 39.14 nD. Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front.
Registered air mail letter sent in October of 1986 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries a mix of stamps denominated in old Dong (Liberation of South Vietnam) and new Dong (Reconstruction, Labor Day, Traditional HousesDam Building). There are different color variations on the Labor Daystamps The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 2 oD =0.20 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (34D) for 34.2 nD. Fragment of green Fulda custom cachet on the reverse.
Registered air mail letter sent in February of 1989 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the imperforate Interior Ministry stamps plus stamps from the Lotus, Liberation of South Vietnam (souvenir-sheet), Children Drawings, Parrots (imperforate) and Hydro Station sets. Souvenir-Sheets and imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. The Interior Ministry, Lotus and Liberation of South Vietnam stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 30.48 oD = 3.05 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (3,210 nD) plus the red free frank for3,270 nD for 6,483.05 nD.
