South Vietnam, International Year of the Book, November 30th, 1972, Michel Nr.SVN 519-521; Three stamps in nominals of 2D, 4D and 5D were issued in perforation 13.5.

These stamps were not officially released imperforate, however, a small number if imperforate trial proofs have come to market. Here is the imperforate set in matching sheet margins.

A perforation error is known on the 5D value which shows a severe perforation shift that cuts into the design of the stamp.

Mixed franking of the 2D Year of the Book value together with World Telecommunication Day paying an overall postage of 5D on a rare domestic printed matter mailing of a medical company sent within Saigon.

Multiple franking of the 2D value (3) paying an overall postage of 6D on a domestic air mail letter sent from Hue to Gia Dinh in November of 1973.

Mixed franking of the 4D Year of the Book value together with the 30D Craft (2) and 10D Victory at Quang Tri sets paying an overall postage of 84D on an international air mail letter sent from Saigon to West Germany.

Mixed franking of the Interpol set together with stamps from the 200,000 Returnees, World Telecommunication Day, Vietnamese Aviation, Wounded Soldiers, Emperor Quang Trung, Rural Development, Wax Soldiers, Civil Defense, Craft and Harvest sets paying an overall postage of 340D on a registered intretaional air mail letter sent from Con Son to West Germany in September of 1973. Red Fulda post office cachet on front. Ex Klewitz.

Single franking of the 5D value on a domestic printed matter mailing (full contents preserved) sent within Saigon in February of 1973.

Single franking of the 5D stamp this time using the 50% discounted military tariff on a domestic letter sent by a member of the military (KBC 6534/Third Infantry Division in Da Nang) to a civilian in Saigon.

Multiple franking of the 5D value (2) paying an overall postage of 10D on a domestic air mail letter sent from Nha Trang to Saigon.

Mixed franking of the 3D coil stamp together with the 5D Year of the Book stamp paying the 50% discounted military tariff for an overall postage of 8D on a letter sent by a member of the military (KBC 3533/6th Air Division in Pleiku) to a civilian in Gia Dinh. Cancelled by the “mute” Quan Buu military cancel. Black bridge type KBC cachet on front.
