Indochina, Domestic Scences II overprinted “Service”, Michel Nr. IND D1-16; Sixteen stamps were overprinted “Service” in order to use them exclusively for the civil service and to prevent theft of mint postage by employees.

Not much mail containing “Service” stamps have survived. Here is a large letter that was sent by the General Government of Indochine in Hanoi to the Minister of Colonies in Paris, France. It carries the 6C, 30C, 1P and 2P (3) overprinted stamps together with one overprint ted 3C Indochinese Women stamp paying an overall postage of 7.39P. Red circular Government cachet on front and back. Paris arrival cancel from March, 1935 on the reverse.
