Indochina, 150 Year Anniversary of the French Revolution, July 5th, 1939, Michel Nr. IND 244-249; Six stamps with nominals of 6C plus 2C, 7C plus 3C, 9C plus 4C, 13C plus 10C, 23C plus 20C and 39C plus 40C were issued in perforation 13.5:13. Given the surcharge on all stamps they were not particularly popular with the general public. As a result cancelled stamps and postal history carrying them are rare. Michel has not understood this so far and prices a used set 15% lower than a mint set.

Here is the complete mint hinged set.

and here the postally used set.

International air mail letters featuring the 39C plus 40C stamp sent from Saigon to France in August of 1939. Gien and Reims transit/arrival cancels on the reverse.
