Unified Vietnam, 26. Congress of the KPdSU, February 23rd., 1981, Michel Nr. 1153-1154; Two stamps with nominals of 20 xu and 50 xu were issued in perforation 11.

Both of the stamps do show tonality issues which are cause by the amount of color that is directed to the printing plate: Here is the 20 xu stamp in lighter and darker colors:

This is the 50 xu stamp. Again the first stamp shows lighter and the second stamp darker colors:

There are some plate errors on both stamps that have become known. Here is a mint block of four of the 20 xu stamp that shows the plate error “red star on rocket missing” that can be found on field 80 of the sheet (top left stamp in the block):

Detailed scan of the affected area:

Cancelled to order pair of the 20xu stamp that shows a printing error on which the turquoise print run was also applied to the reverse of the stamp. Note this is not just a wet-ink off-set but a true printing error.

Print on the reverse:

This is a mint block of four of the 50 xu stamp that shows the plate error “peacock head in flag”  that can be found in field 32 of the sheet (top right stamp in the block):

This is a vertical strip of three stamps in dark color tones that shows the same plate errors. The top stamp represents field 32 and the bottom stamp field 48:

There are also some smaller printing flaws that mostly consist of passer-shifts. Here is a mint block of four of the 20 xu stamp that shows a significant passer shift shift of the yellow color downwards and left:

Another mint block of four of the 20 xu stamp that shows a significant passer-shift of the yellow and turquoise color towards the bottom right:

Color off-sets, so called “color kisses” are also known to exist. Here is a mint strip of four of the 50 xu stamp in darker color tones that shows an off-set of the black and red color (one stamp turned over to show the flaw):

There are also different paper varieties that affect the clarity of the stamp image. Here is a mint strip pf three of the 50 xu stamp that is printed on flat paper and that therefore shows a clear print:

In contrast here is a mint block of fourteen 50 xu stamps that was printed on mat, rough paper and that hence shows a fuzzier image. The top right stamp of the block is the plate error on field 48 presented above. Also note the various degrees of damage to the bottom right part of the flag that shows up on a number of stamps in the block:
