Single franking of the 9C San Francisco Exhibition on a domestic letter that was mailed for Hai Phong to Hanoi in October of 1939. Hanoi arrival cancel one the reverse.

Another single franking of the 9C San Francisco Exhibition stamp this time with the Perfin of the Bank of Indochina on an international letter sent in November of 1939 from Saigon to Paris, France. The Bank was exempt from postal censure and hence red cachet was struck on the envelope to point this out.

International air mail letter sent in February of 1940 from Saigon to France. The letter carries the 37C Air Mail stamp together with two 9C San Francisco Exhibition stamps paying an overall postage of 55C. The letter was censored by the French military in Saigon as indicated by the censure banderole and hand stamps. Saigon machine transit cancel on the reverse.

Mixed franking of the 9C San Francisco Exhibition and stamps from the Domestic Science II set paying an overall postage of 43C on a domestic registered letter sent in September of 1940 from Pnom Penh to Saigon. The envelope represented the second weight level up to 50g (10C base tariff, 13C for weight above 20g and 20C fee for registration). The bank was exempted by degree from postal censure and to document this a red cachet was struck on the envelope. Nevertheless a white banderole on the right side of the envelope seems to indicate that the letter was nevertheless opened and re-sealed. Saigon arrival cancel on the reverse.

Mixed franking of the 9C San Francisco Exhibition plus stamps from the Domestic Scene II set paying an overall postage of 16C on a domestic letter sent in October of 1940 from Hue to Dalat. Dalat arrival cancel on the reverse. The bank was exempted by degree from postal censure and to document this a red cachet was struck on the envelope.

Mixed franking of the 9C and 39C stamps in the set paying an overall postage of 48C on an international air mail letter (full contents preserved) sent from Saigon to India on September 6th of 1939. World War II had broken out just five days earlier, so the letter was censored by the French military as indicated by the circular “Controls Postal” cachet and the British/Indian stepped “Passed For Transmission” cachet. Indian transit/arrival cancels on the reverse.

Mixed franking of the 9C San Francisco Exhibition plus stamps from the Domestic Scene II set paying an overall postage of 45C on a registered domestic letter sent by the Government of Indochina from Tam-Dac (small post office) to Hai Duong. Hanoi “Bis” censor cancel, Hanoi and Vinh-Yen transit cancels and Hai Duong arrival cancel on the rev are.

Mixed franking of the 23C San Francisco Exhibition stamp together with stamps from the 2C Air Mail stamp and the Four Exposition vignette on a domestic letter sent within Saigon and paying an overall postage of 25C. The vignette did not count as postage and hence was “cancelled” with the cachet of the exhibition.

Mixed ranking of the 67C Air Mail stamp together with a 23C San Francisco Exhibition stamp paying an overall postage of 90C on an international air mail letter sent from Saigon to India in December of 1947.  Various Indian transit/arrival cancels on the reverse.
