Here is the mint set

There is a clear color variation of the 20D value. The standard color is light-orange while the rarer color is in dark-orange. Here is a mint block of four of the rarer dark orange color.

A plate error is known on the 30D value. It shows “a dot between 3 and 0 of 30”. Here is a vertical mint pair on which the bottom stamp has the plate error.

The letter carries half of the imperforate Flowering Cacti set plus stamps from the Traditional Minorities (imperforate) and Execution of Party Decision sets for an overall postage of 1,740D (including the red free frank of 1,405D). Registered air mail letter sent as a mixed currency franking in December of 1988 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the Motorcycle souvenir-sheet , plus stamps from the Red Cross (in different color shades) and Hai Phong Liberation sets that were still denominated in old Dong. The stamps on the reverse are denominated in new Dong. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 14.5 oD = 1.45 nD. plus the red free frank for 4,900 nD plus stamps in new Dong 165nD for a total of 5,066.45 nD.

Registered air mail letter sent in June of 1988 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the Tourism stamp set and souvenir-sheet plus stamps/souvebir-sheet from the Wicker Basket, Ha Long Bay (imperforate), Party Decisions, HCM Birthday (souvenir-sheet) and World Communication Year sets.   Imperforate stamps and souvenir-sheets on postally used cover are very rare. The World Communication Year HCM Birthday and Ha Long Bay stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 12 oD =1.2 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong ( 246 nD) plus the red free frank for 2,607 nD for 2,854.2 nD. Green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Registered express air mail letter sent in July of 1988 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the Economic Assistance stamps plus stamps from the Red Cross, Insects (stamp from souvenir-sheet), Party Decisions and Youth Festival sets.  Imperforate stamps or stamps from souvenir-sheets on postally used cover are very rare.  The Youth Festival stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to  13 oD =  1.3 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (630 nD)  and the red free frank for 800D for 1,431.3 nD. Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Registered air mail letter mailed in October of 1988 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries  the perforated Union Congress set plus stamps from there Bach Dang, Paracel and Spartly Islands, Ton Du’c Thang and Party Decision sets for an overall postage of 5,150D (including the red free frank for 4,4200D).

Registered air mail letter sent in January of 1989 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the perforated and imperforate USSR Friendship stamps plus stamps from the Mutual Economic Aid, Hydro Stations, Ton Due Thang, Bach Dang, Party Decisions and Hai Phong Liberation sets. The Hai Phong Liberation stamps shows a severe passer-shift. Error- and  imperforate stamps on postally used cove are very rare.  The Hai Phong Liberation stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 10 oD = 1 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (4,460 nD) plus the red free frank for 2,010 nD for 6,471 nD.
