North Vietnam, 100. Birthday of Maxim Gorki, March 5th, 1968, Michel Nr. 521; Maxim Gorki was a famous Soviet writer. Single stamp with a 12 xu nominal was issued perforated 11.0.

This is the int perforated stamp.

This stamps not officially released imperforate however, a small number of imperforate trial proofs have come to market. Here is one of them.

Very rare registered express mail letter sent to Klewitz in October of 1968. It features the Gorki stamp. Here is a very rare registered express mail letter sent to Klewitz featuring the the Gorki stamp. The overall franking amounted to 1.50 Dong which appears to be a bit shy of the required tariff for a standard registered express mail letter to West Germany (50 xu base rate, 60 xu registration fee, 50 xu express mail fee). Nevertheless it was transmitted without any penalties. Fulda arrival cancel on the reverse. 

Mixed ranking of the 50 xu Chicken stamp together with stamps from the Space and Maxi Gorki sets paying an overall postage of 74 xu on an international letter sent from Hai Phong to Switzerland in January of 1969. East Berlin transit cancel on the reverse.
