Apart from the issued imperforate stamps a very small quantity of imperforate trial proofs that lack the imprint of the year “1984” on the top right of each stamp. These individual imprints were produced for presentation purposes to allow postal authorities to view the proposed stamps and allow for potential changes prior to printing.

Registered air mail letter sent in December of 1984 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries half of the perforated Orchid set plus some stamps from the Ocean Fish, Union Conference and provisional overprint sets for an overall postage of 51D. Grey Fulda custom cachet on front.

International air mail letter sent from Hanoi to Czechoslovakia. The letter carries the 10D Vietnamese Painters stamp plus the 3D Orchid stamp paying an overall postage of 13D in May of 1985.

Registered air mail letter from August of 1985 that features four of the 50xu Union Congress set stamps that shows a partial failure of the black printing run. There is also a mis-perforated 5D Liberation of Hai Phong stamp. Error stamps on petal used cover are very rare. Orchid set stamps on the reverse. The overall postage of the letter amounted to 129.8D (including the red free frank for 46D). Green Fula custom cachet on front.

Registered air mail letter sent in August of 1985 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries eight of the 50xu Union Congress stamps. The strip shows a veryhorizontal double perforation strike plus the two Vietnam, Laos Cambodia Friendship stamps show plate errors. Errors stamps on postally used cover are very rare. Orchid stamps on the reverse. The overall postage of the letter amounted to 243.8D (including the red free frank for 216D). Registered air mail letter sent in November of 1984 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the smaller imperforate souvenir-sheet (8.0×8.0)  plus stamps from the Dien Bien Phu, Orchid and Friendship between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia sets for an overall postage of 51.0D(including the red free frank for 14.5D). Registered air mail letter sent in December of 1984 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the entire perforated Dien Bien Phu stamp set plus the perforated souvenir-sheet in the light-blue-green color (2nd printing). There are also Lenin stamps, Vietnamese Painting and Orchid stamps plus two imperforate Dahlia stamps for an overall postage of 378.10D (including the red free frank for 297.6D). The letter carries four 10D values from the Friendship set plus stamps from the Orchids, Peoples Army and Union Congress sets for an overall postage of 71D (including the red free frank for 18D). Air mail letter sent in February of 1985 from Quan 5 (Cholon) to Klewitz. The letter carries the other half of the imperforate Historic Automobiles set plus stamps from the Orchids and Ocean Fish sets for an overall postage of 30.12D. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare.

Air mail letter sent in November of 1985 from Quan 5 (Cholon) to Klewitz. The letter carries half of there imperforate Peoples Army set, imperforate Soccer and perforated stamps from the Orchids and Union Congress sets for an overall postage of 31.5D. One of the Union Congress stamps shows the plate error of “missing clouds”. Imperforate and error stamps on postally used cover are very rare.

Imperforate and error stamps on postally used cover are very rare.

The letter carries stamps from the Hai Phong Liberation, Orchids, Five Year Plan, Friendship, Vietnamese Painters and other sets for an overall postage of 230.02D (including the red free frank for 173D). Registered air mail letter sent on October 21st, 1985 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the Hai Phong souvenir-sheet in dark colors plus stamps from the Friendship Contract, Orchids, Communist Party and Peace Meeting sets for an overall postage of 133 oD. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. This was true for all stamps on the cover. The overall postage hence amounted to 133 oD = 13.3 nD. plus the red free frank for 11 nD for a total of 24.3 nD Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front.

The letter carries the Hai Phong souvenir-sheet in light colors plus stamps from the Friendship Contract, Orchids and Communist Party  sets for an overall postage of 134 oD. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. This was true for all stamps on the cover. The letter carries the HCM Birthday and the Communist Party souvenir-sheets plus stamps from the HCM Birthday, Orchids, Union Conference, Friendship Contract and Union Congress sets. There are also two of the military free franks from 1981 that were technically not allowed for international postage but were apparently tolerated by the postal clerk. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date (i.e. all the stamps on this cover) were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 345.12 oD = 34.51 nD. plus the red free frank for 5 nD or 39.51 nD. Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Registered air mail letter sent in November of 1985 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the perforated souvenir-sheets of the Argentina Stamp Exhibition (9.6×7.9 cm) and HCM Birthday, plus stamps from the HCM Birthday (Imperforate), Orchids, Harmful Insects, Peace Meeting and Hanoi Liberation sets. Souvenir-Sheets and imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. All stamps on the cover are still denominated in old Dong. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 288.54 oD =28.85 nD. plus the red free frank for 17.6 nD plus for a total of 46.45 nD. Fragment of the green Fuda custom cachet on front.
