Unified Vietnam, Mammals of the Ocean, November 15th, 1985, Michel Nr. 1626-1632; Seven stamps in the nominals of 1D (two stamps), 2D (two stamps), 3D, 4D and 6D were issued in perforation 12.75 and imperforate.

Stamps sold at Vietnamese post offices were without gum, while stamps sold by the official Vietnamese stamp agency were gummed.

Registered air mail letter sent in January of 1986 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the entire perforated Mammals of the Ocean set plus stamps from the Peace Meeting, Union Congress and World Food Year sets for an overall postage of 44.90D (including the red free frank for 8.90D).

The letter carries the entire imperforate and perforated Mammals of the Ocean set plus stamps from the Parcel Island set for an overall postage of 1,281D (including the red free frank for 1,143D). Registered air mail letter sent in April of 1988 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries half of perforated and imperforate Rose set plus stamps from the October Revolution, Wales and Motor Cycles sets. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. The Motor Cycle stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to  9 oD =0.90 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (185 nD) plus the red free frank for 1,185 nD for 1,370.9 nD. Fragment of the green Fulda custom cachet on front.

The letter carries the other half of perforated and imperforate Rose set plus stamps from the October Revolution, Wales, and Motor Cycles sets. The letter carries the Postal Union stamps in different color variations plus stamps from the Wale, Cacti, Paracel and Spratley Island and Animals and Plant sets. The Animals and Plant stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 0.5 oD =0.05 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (239 nD) plus the red free frank for 1,045 nD for1,284.05 nD. Green Fulda custom cachet on front.

The letter carries the imperforate Cosmonautic souvenir-sheet plus stamps from the INDIA Stamp Exhibition, Hydro Stations, Ocean Creatures, Cambodian National Day and Mammals of the Sea sets.  Souvenir-sheets on postally used cover are very rare. The Ocean Creatures stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 4 oD = 0.40 nD. plus the stamps in new Dong (5,699 nD) plus the red free frank for 2,820 nD for 8,519.4nD. Green Fulda custom cachet on front.
