Registered air mail letter sent in September of 1990 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the perforated Post and Telecommunication set plus stamps from the Trucks, Old Sail Ships, Butterflies (imperforate) and World Cup Italy sets for an overall postage of 13,050 (including the red free frank for 5,000D). Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare.

The letter carries the perforated and imperforate Post and Telecommunication set plus stamps from the Capital Hue, Forest Protection, Postal Education Center and Socialist Republic sets for an overall postage of 12,300 (including the red free frank for 4,350D). Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare.

Registered air mail letter sent in December of 1990 from Ho Chi Minh Ciyt to Klewitz. The letter carries perforate and imperforate Prehistoric Animal stamps plus stamps from the Asia Games, Ministry of Post and Communication and Postal Education Center sets for an overall postage of 12,350D. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. Green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Postally used letters with these stamps are very rare as the low nominal made postal use rather difficult. Unless one was using a free frank to add additional postage the low nominals would essentially demand too much space on a standard envelope. Here is a letter mailed in August of 1990 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz with half of the overprinted series plus stamps from the Old Sail Ships, Horses, Asia Games and Ministry for Post and Telecommunications its for an overall postage of 9,256.5D (including the red free frank for 5,250D).

Postally used letters with these stamps are very rare as the low nominal made postal use rather difficult. Unless one was using a free frank to add additional postage the low nominals would essentially demand too much space on a standard envelope. Here is a letter mailed in August of 1990 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz with the other half of the overprinted series plus stamps from the Old Sail Ships, Ceramics (imperforate), Asia Games and Ministry for Post and Telecommunications its for an overall postage of 10,013.5D (including the red free frank for 5,550D).

Registered air mail letter sent in March of 1991 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the entire perforated World Cup Italy II stamp set plus stamps from the Traditional Women Clothing, Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and Old Capital Hue (partially imperforate) sets for an overall postage of 12,400D (including the red free frank for 2,200D). Registered air mail letter sent in October, 1990 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries stamps from the overprinted World Cup and Soccer sets plus stamps from the Capital Hue, Socialist Republic and Ministry for Post and Telecommunication sets for an overall postage of 11,750.17D (including the red free frank for 5,350D). The overprinted Soccer stamps that were originally issued in 1982 had a very low nominal value which made them basically useless for postal usage. The letter carries the perforated and imperforate Women Union set plus stamps from the Thach Sanh, Postal Communication Center,  Flowers and Ministry for Post and Telecommunication sets for an overall postage of 11,750D (including the red free frank for 3,250D). Registered air mail letter sent in July of 1996 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the entire Asian Attractions II set plus stamps from the Bird set from 1981; Postal Administration Center (imperforate), Charity Organization Golden Heart and Ministry of Post and Telecommunication sets. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare.The Bird stamps were still denominated in old Dong. On September 14th, 1985 the Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation which devalued the old Dong by 10:1. This meant old stamps used after that date were only worth one tenth of their face value.  The overall postage of the letter therefore amounted to 0.80 oD :10 = 0.08 nD plus stamps already in new Dong (20,850nD) for a total of 20,850.08D.
