Unified Vietnam, 20 Years Republic of Cuba, January 1st, 1979, Michel Nr.1015; A single stamp with a 12 xu nominal was issued perforated 11.0.

Here is a mint block of four of the stamp:

A re-occuring plate error is know that takes the shape of a diagonal line as seen on the left stamp of this mint pair. The printing plate must have suffered a clean break to produce this error.

The plate error progressed over time as can be seen on these two pairs below. The top pair only shows one diagonal white line. The second pair below however, shows a progression of the white line that starts at the left of the stamp just below the Cuban flag and points downwards.

These stamps were not officially issued im-perforated however a small number of imperforate trial proofs have come to market. Here is one that shows a significant passer-shift of the yellow color to the left:

Rare local letter sent in February of 1979 from Vinh Long to HCM City and paying the correct domestic letter rate in force at the time. HCM City machine arrival cancel on the reverse.

Another local letter featuring a single franking of the stamp sent in September of 1979 from Binh Minh to HCM City. Various transit and HCM City machine arrival cancel on the reverse.

Rare registered express mail letter sent to Klewitz in October of 1979. The letter carries strip of three of the stamp plus other NVN stamps from the period. The overall postage amounted to 4.78 Dong. Fulda arrival cancel on the reverse. Green Fulda custom cachet on front. Unusual hand-made version of the express mail label as apparently the printed version had run out.

Another rare registered express mail letter sent to Klewitz in January of 1980. The letter carries a block of four of the stamp plus other NVN stamps from the period. The overall postage amounted to 4.90 Dong. Frankfurt Airport arrival cancel on the reverse. Green Fulda custom cachet on front. Unusual hand-made version of the express mail label as apparently the printed version had run out.

Very rare registered express mail letter sent to Klewitz in February of 1980. It features the set with two color variations of the 12 xu Einstein value. It also carries a 12 xu Einstein stamp without the black printing run. Error stamps on postally used cover are very rare as few philatelist water to expose their error stamp to get lost or damaged during transit. There is also a single of the Cuba stamps. The overall postage amounted to 4.80 Dong. Fulda arrival cancel on the reverse. Fulda green custom cachet on front.

Very large registered letter sent from Nguyen-Trai to Klewitz in May of 1982. It carries a mass franking of the 12 xu Train stamp plus other NVN stamps for an overall postage of 11.98 Dong (excluding the military free franks). There are two military free franks which were not valid for international mail due to the missing nominal. 12 xu Cuba stamp in front. Nevertheless it appears that the postal clerk did not object to the use of these stamps. Green Fulda custom cachet on front.

Rare registered letter sent from Nguyen Trai to Klewitz. The letter features the perforated and im-perforated stamp  plus other NVN stamps for an overall postage of 12.64 (including the red free frank for 5 Dong). Im-perforated trial proofs are very rare on postally used cover. Pair of 20 Years Cuba stamp in front. Green Fulda custom cachet on front.
