Unified Vietnam, Mushrooms, December 30th, 1987, Michel Nr. 1876-1882; Seven stamps with nominals of 5D, 10D, 15D, 20D, 25D, 30D and 40D were issued in perforation 12.75 and imperforate. There are some doubts about the issuance date reported by Michel as there are First Day Covers (ex Klewitz) that show a November 10th, 1987 first day of issuance.

Stamps sold at Vietnamese post offices were sold without gum while stamps sold through the official Vietnamese stamp agency were gummed.

Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. There is also the military free frank issued in 1987. Registered air mail letter sent in October of 1988 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the second printing of the 4D value in grey and four imperfroate values of the 1987 Mushroom set. Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare. The overall postage of the letter amounted to 5,184 Dong (including the red free frank for 3,870D).

Registered air mail letter sent as a mixed currency franking in December of 1988 from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries the Motorcycle souvenir-sheet , plus stamps from the Red Cross (in different color shades) and Hai Phong Liberation sets that were still denominated in old Dong. The stamps on the reverse are denominated in new Dong. The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing. The overall postage hence amounted to 14.5 oD = 1.45 nD. plus the red free frank for 4,900 nD plus stamps in new Dong 165nD for a total of 5,066.45 nD.

Registered express air mail letter sent in July of 1988 as a mixed currency franking from Ho Chi Minh City to Klewitz. The letter carries three of the 200D Economic Assistance stamps plus stamps from the Traditional Minority Clothing (imperforate), Mushrooms (imperforate), Poultry and Endangered Animal sets.  Imperforate stamps on postally used cover are very rare.  The Protected Animal stamps were still denominated in old Dong while all other stamps were already denominated in new Dong.  The Vietnamese Government conducted a devaluation of the Dong on September 14th, 1985. This meant that all stamps issued prior to this date were only worth one tenth at the time of mailing.
