Saigon machine transit cancel on the reverse.

Mixed franking of the 9D Animals stamp featuring the plate error on which the accent sign over CHINH is missing together with stamps from the Emperor Quang Trung, Harvest, National Unity and Development of Land Post sets paying an overall postage of 85D on an international air mail letter sent from Saigon to Switzerland. Plate errors on postally used letters are very rare.

Domestic letter (full content preserved) sent in September of 1974 from Gia Duc (small post office) to Saigon and franked with a single 10D Development of Rural Post stamp. This was 15D short of the required 25D postage and hence a 30D postage due stamp was added on the reverse upon arrival.

A yellow sticker was added in Switzerland stating that the letter had to be picked up by July 5th, which apparently it was.
