North Vietnam, For Military Personell 1969, Issued in 1969, Michel Nr. M16; A single stamp identical in design to Michel Nr. M11 was produced by Tien Bo Printing House, in sheets of 100 stamps and in perforation 11.0. The olive-green/brown stamp is quite a bit more scarce than Michel Nr. 11 and 12.

Here is the mint copy.

On cover the stamp is also very rare as most local letters from the period. Most local letters were destroyed due to the multi-decadal war, the tropical climate and recycling due to raw material shortages. Expect to pay at least $500 for one of them. Here is a letter sent by a member of the military (Hom Thu 658.178 JA 01) in July of 1971 to Hai Hau. Hai Hau arrival cancel on the reverse. The stamp was cancelled by an unusual boxed cancel with the initials “GH SO” the is probably of military origin.

Local letter mailed most likely from Phu Luong in October of 1972 to a military unit designated by the Hom Thu code “501.045 JE/45”. Tuyen Quang and Ham Yen transit cancels on the reverse.

Another local letter sent by a member of the military (Hom Thu 647.318 JA01) to Ha-Bac.

Local letter sent by a military unit from Nghia Lo Tx in September of 1972.

Local letter sent by a member of the military (Hom Thu 1471.T.M.) in 1969 to Ha Bac (ex Lucian Lu).

Local letter sent from Hanoi to a member of the military (Hom Thu 680.636 JH23) in May of 1971. Hanoi machine cancel. Lang Gang and illegible machine transit/arrival cancel on the reverse.
